Milwaukee Breakwater Lighthouse and Pierhead Light and North Point Lighthouse


Built:  1926, 1906 and 1888, respectively

Viewing:  From I-94/I-43 in downtown Milwaukee, ext onto I-794 and to about 0.7 miles to exit 1F (Lincoln Memorial Dr.).  Take that exit to the traffic signal at Lincoln Memorial Dr.  Turn left on Lincoln Memorial Dr. and go 1 block to Michigan St..  Turn right on Michigan, then turn right at the next street, Harbor Dr.  Follow Harbor Dr. approximately 0.6 miles to Polk St.  Turn right on Polk St. and go 2 blocks to its end at East Erie St.  Turn left on Erie St. and go about 0.2 miles to its end at a parking area near the river.  Turn left in the parking area and park anywhere up to a fence that crosses the lot.  Walk through that area to go to the water's edge.  From here, you can see the Breakwater Lighthouse and the Pierhead Light. To see the North Point Lighthouse, return to Lincoln Memorial Dr and turn right.  Go approximately 1.9 miles to an unmarked road (about  0.8 miles north of the Mckinley Marina).  Turn left on the unnamed road and go approximately 0.3 miles to Terrace Ave.  Turn right on Terrace Ave. and go 0.1 miles to North Wahl Ave.  Turn right on North Wahl Ave. and go about 0.5 miles to the lighthouse driveway on the right.
